We do a little bit of private investment. Mostly local Tahoe businesses, but sometimes just things we want to see in the world.
Are you interested in starting a business here in South Lake? Let’s chat.
South Lake Brewing Company
SLBC is a core part of the South Lake community. Chris and Nicole are lifelong locals and have built an incredible business here in town — not only brewing great beer, but also making delicious food and supporting our local community through countless events and fundraisers.
Cascade Kitchens
Cascade Kitchens is a new food hall in town — featuring six restaurants, a full-service bar, a rentable commercial kitchen, meeting space, and several smaller kiosks in the main hall.
FlyTahoe
We live on a lake, but we don’t have a ferry system. Isn’t that odd? FlyTahoe aims to solve that — with an electric foil ferry. That means no wake, no noise, and a smooth ride no matter how bumpy the lake gets.
WorldTree
Re-forestation is a great way to sequester carbon. But once you grow the forest, it stops sequestering new carbon. And if someone burns down that forest, you’ve erased all your gains. WorldTree aims to fix that by partnering with farmers to grow Paulownia trees — a particularly fast growing hardwood. We can then harvest those trees for lumber and re-plant a new crop. It creates a cycle of carbon sequestration, while providing a useful resource in return.
Steward
Steward is a community lending platform for farmers practicing regenerative agriculture. I am both an investor in the company and have participated in many of their loans. Regenerative agriculture provides a much better framework for farming that sits in stark contrast to the extractive, unethical factory farming practices so common in America.
